Dental Crowns | Same day crowns

A damaged tooth can make you susceptible to serious oral problems unless you have it repaired. At Rachelle T. Flores, DMD, we can restore your smile with a dental crown. We are excited to offer CEREC® technology, which allows us to create custom dental crowns in just one office visit!

What Are Dental Crowns and What Are Their Uses?

A dental crown, or cap, is a restoration commonly used for restorative purposes. We may recommend a crown to protect a tooth after root canal therapy, to strengthen a weak or fractured tooth, to support a large filling when little tooth structure remains, to secure a dental bridge, or to cover and complete a dental implant. Dental crowns also serve an aesthetic purpose. They can correct the appearance of a misshapen, misaligned, or severely discolored tooth.

While dental crowns come in several different materials, including metal, resin, ceramic, porcelain, or porcelain-fused-to-metal, porcelain crowns continue to gain popularity because of the incredibly natural results they provide. Talk to your trusted team at Rachelle T. Flores, DMD to determine the best restorative or aesthetic solution for your smile.

What Are CEREC Crowns

A popular choice for dental crowns is CEREC, which stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. The system designs and produces high-quality dental restorations in just one office appointment. CEREC technology utilizes computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) to create virtual models of your crown without the need for messy impressions. The virtual models are sent to our on-site milling unit, which fabricates your ceramic restoration out of a single solid block of ceramic that we carefully match to the color of your natural teeth.

Why Choose CEREC Crown?

CEREC crowns are convenient, requiring only one office visit, rather than waiting as long as two weeks for your new restoration. Not only will you complete the procedure in one day, but you will also preserve much of your tooth structure because CEREC crowns require less preparation than their traditional counterparts. The technology produces results that closely resemble your natural teeth. CEREC crowns are sturdy, durable, and resistant to abrasion, making them the perfect long-term solution to restore your smile.

Our CEREC system also produces partial crowns known as inlays and onlays. Inlays resemble dental fillings by covering the grooves of the teeth, while onlays cap one or more cusps of a damaged tooth. Partial crowns are usually the choice restorations if the tooth damage is too extensive to repair using a traditional dental filling, but not to the extent that warrants the use of a dental crown. Inlays and onlays deliver reliable and durable results.
