Dentures and Partials

Tooth loss can impact your smile and self-confidence, and we, at Rachelle T. Flores, DMD, are here to help. We are proud to offer comfortable, custom-made tooth replacement options, including dentures. Your new restorations will have you looking, feeling, and smiling your best!

What Are Dentures?

Dentures are removable oral appliances designed to restore your missing teeth and enhance your smile. They come with prosthetic teeth secured to flesh-colored bases that rest on your gums. You'll love the incredibly natural looking and feeling results!

What Are the Types of Dentures?

You can opt for conventional or immediate complete dentures if you have a whole arch of missing teeth. Conventional dentures are removable tooth replacements made and placed in your mouth after removing any remaining teeth and waiting for the tissues to heal, which may take several months. Immediate dentures, on the other hand, are removable restorations we prepare in advance and insert into your mouth right after removing any remaining teeth. The downside of immediate dentures is that they need to be relined or remade after your mouth heals because your gums and jaw change shape during the healing process.

Partial dentures offer another restorative dentistry solution for patients with some of their natural teeth remaining. They consist of prosthetic teeth attached to gum-colored bases and have metal frameworks and clasps that connect to your remaining teeth.

Adjusting to Your Dentures

Your dentures may feel loose while the muscles of your cheeks and tongue become trained to keep them in place. You may have some minor irritation or soreness and may notice an increase in your saliva flow. As you become accustomed to your dentures, these problems will resolve. During your follow-up appointments, we will check your dentures and adjust them for the best fit and comfort. If any soreness or problems persist, make sure you let us know.

Will You Need Denture Adhesives?

While some patients find that dental adhesives provide an added sense of security and stability, they are not required for well-fitting dentures. If your dentures become loose, you should not use denture adhesives as a solution. We will reline your restorations and make any adjustments as needed to ensure they continue to provide the best fit.

How Can You Maintain a Healthy Smile?

Make sure to clean your dentures daily with non-abrasive denture toothpaste and a soft-bristled brush, and rinse them thoroughly after every meal. Store your restorations in a mild denture cleaner or water while you sleep, and rinse them before returning them to your mouth. Refrain from making any adjustments or repairs to avoid damaging your dentures. Contact our office if you have any concerns.
